Applicants must have completed a PhD, DVSc, DVM, or equivalent degree and hold a permanent position at a university, accredited zoo, or conservation organization. The maximum funding available is $120,000 for up to 24 months. This award is an ideal opportunity for those who are ready to take on their first independent research project.

3. Pilot Study Award

For those seeking support for smaller, proof-of-concept studies, the Pilot Study Award offers up to $20,000 in funding for projects lasting up to 12 months. These awards are perfect for researchers looking to test new ideas that could lead to larger-scale studies in the future.
